From the Pastor May 2025

The arrival of May means this year’s “Change for the Children” campaign for the benefit of the OFWB Children’s Home is underway. In the past week, you should have received an insert in your worship bulletin providing information about this denominational ministry as well as a plastic bag for the purpose of collecting spare change throughout the month. Opened by the OFWB Convention in May 1920, the Children’s Home has provided a safe and supportive space for not only children who have been orphaned, but also those from difficult home settings. The countless stories shared over its history have been those of love, encouragement, and hope which have supplied children and youth with meaning, purpose, and confidence for a brighter future. Gary Lee serves as the current president for the Children’s Home and we are looking forward to having him as this year’s Homecoming Sunday speaker in September. Gary has a tremendous heart for children and the challenges so many of them face today. As we go through this month, please hold the staff and children of this vital ministry in your prayers and give generously as the Lord leads you.

Back in early March, we had our first men’s prayer breakfast in a number of years and it was a blessing for all who participated. June is only a month away and preparations are being made for our second such event on the first Saturday. As before, a sign-up sheet will be circulated so please be sure to let us know of your plan to attend. The first time we were blessed with a wonderful meal, time of Christian friendship/fellowship, and prayer. If you were unable to attend in March, please plan to join us in June. It is a laid back atmosphere aimed at bringing together the men as well as children and youth of our church and community together. It is by no means limited to Little Rock members, so take a moment to invite friends, family, or neighbors to be with us on June 7
